Yantai Vocational College is a full-time ordinary college at the vocational level approved by the People's Government of Shandong Province and sponsored by the People's Government of Yantai City. It is one of the earliest colleges in the province to establish higher vocational education. It is also a pilot college for the "National Skilled and Scarce Talent Training Project" of the Ministry of Education, a demonstration college for higher vocational education in Shandong Province, and a demonstration college for entrepreneurship education for college students in Shandong Province. In 2010, it was designated by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as one of the first batch of project construction units for national demonstration backbone vocational colleges. In October 2013, it passed the acceptance inspection with an excellent level. In 2013, it was approved as a pilot program for "3+2" targeted and segmented training between vocational colleges and undergraduate universities.
