Yinchuan Energy College is located in the historic and cultural city of Yinchuan, China. The campus is bordered by the Yellow River to the east and the Helan Mountains to the west. It is a private undergraduate institution mainly focused on engineering, jointly managed and built by the Education Department of the Autonomous Region and the Yinchuan Municipal Government. The school was established in 1999 and was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2012 to be upgraded to a regular undergraduate university mainly focused on cultivating applied talents in the petrochemical and power industries.
According to the official website of the school in November 2015, the school covers an area of 1200 acres, with a building area of 226500 square meters and total assets of 958 million yuan. The school has more than 15000 students of various types, recruiting students from nearly 30 provinces, cities, and autonomous regions including Ningxia, Shaanxi, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Henan, Shandong, and Jiangsu.
